Privacy Policy

Effective September 30, 2026

The Black Box Project is an initiative of Stop Soldier Suicide, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This policy explains what information this website collects, why, and what we do with it. It covers bbxproject.org only. Information shared with our team after you contact us, including anything related to loaning a device, is governed by the written consent process we go through with you directly.

What we collect

  • Contact forms. When you fill out a form, we receive what you type: your name, the email address or phone number you give us, and any message. We also record which page you were on and, if you arrived from an ad, the campaign identifiers in the link (for example, which city the ad ran in). Forms are processed by Formspree, Inc. on our behalf and delivered to our team by email.
  • Calls and texts. If you call or text Kim, our phone service, Zoom Phone, shows us your number and keeps any voicemail or text you send.
  • Advertising measurement. Some pages include a Google Ads conversion tag. It sets a cookie so Google can tell us whether an ad led someone to start or send a form, open one of the questions, read most of the page, click to schedule a call, or tap to call or text Kim. We have turned off ad personalization signals, and we do not run Google Analytics or any other analytics tool on this site.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) keeps standard access logs, including IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your information.
  • We do not share form submissions with advertisers.

How we use it

To respond to you, to answer your questions, to schedule a conversation if you ask for one, and to understand which of our outreach efforts reach families who want to talk with us.

Who else sees it

  • Formspree (form processing)
  • Google (advertising conversion measurement only)
  • Zoom (if you book a call through our scheduling link, or call or text Kim; Zoom's own privacy policy applies)
  • Amazon Web Services (hosting)

How long we keep it

Form submissions, and the calls, texts and voicemails you send Kim, are kept as long as needed to follow up with you and for our records of the program. You can ask us to delete your contact information at any time.

Your choices

You can browse this site without submitting any form. You can block or clear cookies in your browser, which disables the advertising measurement described above. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing blackboxproject@stopsoldiersuicide.org.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
